Upgrade of Classic styled VEL 6
Classic VEL 6.14 naturally upgrades to a new Classic VEL 6.15 release. Also the Classic VEL Project Manager, along with all Classic VEL modules, still exists, to ensure full continuity. All Classic modules remain, with only minor improvements. However, note that the modern, actively developed modules are the Vision VEL 7 style components. And note also that some of the Classic modules are already deprecated!
So let’s jump in and explore the new VEL 7.1 Vision suite!
New Vision style PROJECT MANAGER
VEL 7.1 introduces a new Vision Project Manager (PM), which manages VEL projects along with any additional files the user needs. This keeps all documentation related to a project in one place, making it easy to organize and access.
The new Project Manager offers updated icons, previews, filtering, and many other enhancements for Vision modules. Classic modules are fully supported as well.
The new Vision styled VEL 7.1 Project Manager supersedes the Classic styled VEL 6.
New Vision style MATERIAL PROPERTIES
A new Vision Material Properties module has been introduced. It integrates the Viscosity Fitting functionality with the Material Database, and supports both Classic and new Vision material formats. This provides unified material handling across the entire Virtual Extrusion Laboratory suite.
Materials from the Vision Material Properties module can be added directly to any VEL project.
While the Classic Material Properties module is still available, it will be replaced by the Vision version in the near future.
New Vision style EXTRUSION CALCULATOR
A new Vision Extrusion Calculator module has been introduced. It operates as a standalone application (part of Material Properties), but it is also integrated into the Flow Vision modules (such as 3DFem) to assist in designing correct geometries.
Currently, it supports flow calculations for round straight pipe channels, straight annular channels, and flat channels. Additional practical solvers will be added in the near future.
While the Classic Extrusion Calculator remains available, it will soon be replaced by the new Vision version.
