
Periodicity in VEL™ 7.0 3DFem module
Almost any type of extrusion die can be solved using the Compuplast VEL™ 7.0 3DFem module, including popular spiral mandrel dies and/or flat spiral dies. However, the geometry of these die types is periodic. Therefore, it is essential to take advantage of periodicity to speed up the solution process.
Why solve the entire model if, for example, it contains 12 identical periodic sections? Why not solve just one of them—saving both time and memory?


New in version 7.0, we have introduced support for both Cartesian and rotational periodicity. It is easy to define: simply choose the periodicity type and specify the number of repeating sections (e.g., for rotational periodicity).
Boundary conditions and solver treatment are handled automatically. You can then postprocess one, several, or all of the periodic sections as needed.
